Processor Buyers Guide

Eight things every Biodiesel Processor must do.

1. Must be simple to operate

A properly designed biodiesel processor must be simple to operate. Look for a processor with few valves and manual controls and one that controls things like temperature and timing automatically. Our processors have a total of 3 valves in the entire system. This eliminates confusion and adds to the safety of our Biodiesel Processors.

2. Provide proper catalyst mixture

Every processor must provide a means of properly mixing the catalyst. A poorly mixed catalyst will not blend into the oil evenly and will cause inconsistency in the process. To enhance the safety of our system, we have employed features that eliminate the need to mix the alcohol and the caustic.

3. Provide proper process temperature

The process temperature is one of the most important factors in the Biodiesel process. A properly designed Biodiesel Processor must hold the process temperature through out the entire process in order to obtain reliable and repeatable results consistently. A temperature of 125F to 140F is desired. Our digitally controlled, direct heating system employs additional safety measures to make it the most effective heating system on the market today.

4. Provide the right amount of agitation

Agitation controls how well the catalyst gets mixed into the oil. The better and more thoroughly it gets blended the better the results. The mixing action if a pump impeller is not always enough to do the job properly and quickly enough. Our signature static mixing system is second to none when it come to blending a batch and speeds up the process significantly.

5. Employ an accurate process time

The process time depends heavily on the temperature of the batch. Poorly maintained temperature or no control at all will yield unpredictable and non-repeatable results. Our process time is optimized to the temperature of our process in order to cut the process time in half.

6. Provide a method of washing/polishing

Washing is necessary in order to remove remaining catalyst, alcohol and other impurities. Most systems provide some sort of method for washing/polishing, others require external tanks to do this. This is a built-in feature of our processors.

7. Provide a method of drying

Along with washing comes drying. Biodiesel is naturally hygroscopic (absorbs water). this means that after washing, the biodiesel will naturally contain some amount of water causing cloudiness. The drying phase drives out the absorbed water making it crystal clear again. This is a built-in feature of our processors.

8. Provide a method of filtering the final product

Once the batch is complete, the Biodiesel must be filtered properly to remove fine particles that might damage your engine.
